Emergency Fuel Surcharge Statutory/Regulatory Provisions

Emergency Fuel Surcharge - May 2008

The average price of fuel for the month of April, as determined in accordance with Division rules, was $3.241/gallon. Accordingly, the following fuel surcharges are approved for the month of May:

Taxi:

A surcharge of $0.50 per metered fare up to, and including $10.00, and $1.00 for metered fares above $10.00 is in effect.

Towing:

The average fuel price threshold of $3.00 was exceeded in April, as a result:

Those towers operating under the tariff originally filed in 1998 ($66 per tow) are authorized to collect a surcharge of $2.00 per non-consensual tow.

Those towers operating under the August 2005 ($75 per tow) tariff agreement are authorized to collect a surcharge $0.50 per non-consensual tow.

Ferries:

A fuel cost threshold of $1.20 per gallon has been met. Accordingly, ferry companies are eligible to apply for an appropriate surcharge based on the ridership and fuel data required by Report and Order 16701.
