Registration Requirements for Gas Marketers
To register as a gas marketer, an applicant must submit a Statement of
Business Operations (SBO). At a minimum, the SBO must include the following
information:
- Corporate and Local Company Name.
- Business Address.
- Location of Primary Facilities, including a description of any facilities
in Rhode Island.
- Evidence of Authorization from Rhode Island Secretary of State. (The
Secretary of State's Office may be contacted at 401-222-3040)
- Proof of Rhode Island Tax Identification Filing. (The Division of
Taxation may be contacted at 401-222-2950).
- Name and Address of Service Agent.
- Attorney of Record.
- Listing of Corporate Officers with Titles.
- Listing of Ten Percent or Greater Stockholders or Partners.
- Initial Capitalization.
- General Description of Operations.
- Description of Customer Service Organization.
- Affirmation that the applicant will comply with the Regulations
for Utility Interaction With Gas Marketers, the Rhode Island General
Laws and all rules and regulations promulgated by the Public Utilities
Commission and Division of Public Utilities and Carriers.
File an original and nine (9) copies of the SBO with the:

Updated information must be filed within ten (10) days of any change
to the information included in the registration application, as filed
or previously updated.
A copy of the SBO must also be served upon the local gas company listed
